2023 WPKM Housing Options

Modal - Hostel Stay

For a fun and affordable ($55/night) stay in town, we’re offering a group booking at Greenville’s first hostel, Modal.

In addition to providing affordable accommodations, Modal also serves up locally brewed beer, locally roasted coffee, and Grassroots wine in its micro coffee bar. Modal is a place that celebrates Greenville’s queer, minority, and creative community and gladly welcomes everyone into its space. It is located 15 minutes from the Greenville Spartanburg Airport and 7 minutes from the Amtrak train station by car. Public transportation is also available via the Greenlink bus system, Bcycle Bike Share, and ride share options like Uber and Lyft. Complimentary parking is available for guests.

If you’re interested in staying at Modal with the group, email womensparkourmovement@gmail.com. We only have four spots left so book fast! Rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and must be confirmed no later than Friday, February 24. Guests must be 18+ years of age.

Motive - Gym Stay

For the full, original parkour jam experience, we’re offering an old-school gym stay!

If you’re looking for a free, no-frills housing option, our generous co-hosts at Motive have agreed to host event attendees overnight on Friday and Saturday night. Bring a sleeping bag and crash on the mats or pack a hammock to hang from the bars. The gym has plenty of sleeping space, bathroom facilities (no showers though!), and an area with a fridge, microwave, sink, and ice machine. No booking required, but we do ask you to indicate on your registration form if you plan to crash at the gym so we can plan accordingly.

Getting to Greenville

Greenville is the center of the Upstate region of South Carolina, located about halfway between Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina on I-85. You can easily reach the city by plane, bus, train, or car.

Upon arrival, there are plenty of options for getting around by car, bus, or bicycle, as well as on foot in the city center. Check out the info below and join our discord channel to arrange a carpool or coordinate travel with other WPKM-ers!

By Plane
There are several options for flying into Greenville. The closest local airport with only a 15-minute drive into town is Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport (GSP). While this is the most convenient option, it can also be the more expensive one so, we also recommend checking out a few of the neighboring airports for cheaper flights. You can fly into Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, North Carolina or Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in Atlanta, Georgia. Both are 2-3 hours away from Greenville. You may also try the Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) in North Carolina or Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) in South Carolina.

By Bus
Greyhound and Flixbus run from both Atlanta and Charlotte with varied schedules and rates.

By Train
Amtrak stops directly in Greenville, and the station is very central to all that Greenville has to offer. The Crescent train runs along the east coast with many stops along the way.

By Car
Motive is minutes from I-85, which makes it a straightforward drive from Atlanta or Charlotte (both of which are fun places to stop if you have time along the way!). Two key locations during the jam will be Motive and Modal:

Motive School of Movement - 10 Webb Rd, Greenville, SC (ample on-site parking)

Modal - 813 Augusta St, Greenville, SC (limited on-site parking)

Getting Around in Greenville

Once you arrive, Greenville is easy to get around by bus, bicycle, car, or on foot in the city center. We highly recommend joining our Discord so you can find and coordinate with the group throughout the weekend!

By Bus
Greenlink transit is a great way to get around if you’re staying in Greenville without a car.

BCycle (bicycle rentals)
There are also BCycle stations downtown and along various points of the Swamp Rabbit Trail. For anybody wanting to get from Falls Park to Unity Park (and more) without driving this can be a great option!

By Car
For those driving, there are parking garages all over downtown Greenville. You can also find street parking and private lots that utilize the Pay Mobile app. We recommend River Place Garage (300 River St. / $7 all day parking) as a great central parking option.
